Most guys have a problem wearing a bow tie. Usually there is this sense of nerd in the air, but not if you do it right. This nice navy diamond tip bow tie, by Alexander Olch, doesn’t look to bad here layered with a white sweater and a Glen Check sports jacket.

While my dad was visiting Sweeny, Texas last weekend he happend to come across another great find. Norton started manufacturing motorcycles in 1902 in the United Kingdom. Norton use to be a very strong presence in the United States and stands by BSA(Birmingham Small Arms) as one of the great British motorcycles. Anyways my dad saw one of these great Norton Cammados, but was not able to capture a photo. This amazing 1974 Norton Commando 850 will have to due.

This winter is going to be all about the layers and how you can shake things up. Below is a great example of how to do this properly. Well done!

US Navy Pea Coat

Posted in Uncategorized by redeagletribe on September 24, 2009

If there is one jacket I have to get this winter is a US Navy Pea Coat. Any local army/navy store will have plenty. The pea coat was originally worn by sailors of the European Navy. These pea coats have since become a classic, and a regular issue to the US Navy in dark navy blue. Can pick up one of these authentic coats for around $120.

Bow Tie

Posted in Uncategorized by redeagletribe on September 19, 2009

This is one of the first bow ties that I ever made, and yet still one of my favorites because of the pattern. Made of 100% cotton of course. A lot more to come!plaid3

Breitling

Posted in Uncategorized by redeagletribe on September 18, 2009

Picture 261About six months ago I was milling around the local Army Store when I came across this treasure. When I found it, it was caked in gunk. My good friend John, loving watches, ensured me that he could clean it, and that he did. The watch had previously been the owner’s watch who had moved on. I purchased the watch for $100 and then added the blue and gold band to it from a local men’s shop. For those who doubt that this is a real Breitling, I thought the same, but after looking up the serial numbers on the watch it was in fact produced in 1987. I still can not believe that I found this watch at such a steal, but that is why you have to keep your eyes open!

Overall great movie but this post is really not about that. This movie was filled with great old motorcycles as well as styling. The two motorcycles featured in the movie were an amazing Indian and the classic Triumph. Also Belstaff, the great British Clothing Company who also outfitted the likes of Steve Mcqueen, provided all the great leather jackets in the movie, as well as in the picture below.

At the end of the movie though, you will find one of my favorite movie quotes of all time.

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

Hand Made Ties

Picture 426

About a year ago, I really started to evaulate my path and where I was going. It was at this point that I realized that I wanted to start creating things. It sounds crazy these days, in the age of mass consumerism, but people use to actually take time to create enduring, long lasting products which usually meant they were constructed by hand. It has been a journey making and shaping these ties and bow ties, but it has turned out to be more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. These ties and bow ties are exactly what I want, and can not buy. A perfect 2 7/8 inch width, this tie is made from 100% Navy Wool, and 100% Cotton Chambray.

PTP: Vintage BMW

Posted in Motorcycles, Personally Taken Pic by redeagletribe on September 15, 2009

So the other day I was talking about classic motorcycles, and today I ran across an awesome BMW. Now for those who do not know BMW started making motorcycles about five years before they started making automobiles. Several of there old motorcycle designs are considered classics, and for all the right reasons. In the future I will be highlighting many of these classic BMW  Bikes. Til then check this beast out!

There is not a day that passes by that I don’t look at classic motorcycles online! I grew up riding dirt bikes with my dad, and looking at the motorcycles he grew up riding. I already have the exact bike picked out (1970s Hondad CB) and can not stop thinking about riding free on the open roads in California. But ones of these old Triumphs that are pictured here would not be bad either.Picture 465
